To create the booking engine for Transport products you need to create three widgets. These widgets are connected together to create a fully functioning online booking engine. The three widgets you need to create are:
- Route search form - is what we are covering in this article.
- Route search results - here are information on how to create Route search results
- Check-out - here are information on how to create a checkout widget
Route Search form is a window to search for available dates and routes you can put on the e.g. Home page of your website. The customer can search in the Route Search Form, and is redirected to another page to get his search results.
Note that in most cases, enough to create one set of widgets. The set can be used to embed multiple tours. There is no need to create one widget per tour, the only time you will need more than one widget is if either payment parameters are different between products, or you would like to offer drop down list of products in your booking engine v.s. just have one product bookable in the booking engine.
Here is an example of the Route search form:
To create new widgets you have to go to the widget page. To go to the widget page select the "Cog wheel in top right corner" then you select “Widget” from the side bar:
Select “add” to create the widget.
This page appears and here you choose the widget that you need to create, in this case we select “Route Search Form” from the list.
There are two parameters that need to be set to create a Route Search form:
Title: The title of the widget. It can be anything that is descriptive to you e.g. "Route Search Form - step 1" (as in step 1 in the booking process)
Results page: Results page is the link (URL) to the page where the search results should appear. On that page you have or will have to embed your Route Search results.
Then there optional parameters to change the look and feel of your booking engine.
Resource References, Custom Head and Custom CSS/LESS: These options allow you to change the lok and feel of your booking engine with CSS or Java Script. Here you can find more information on how to change the look and feel of your booking engines
