What is a payment provider and why do I need it? 

A payment provider processes your customer's credit card on your website and receives the payment. The amount the customer paid will then be deposited in your bank account. When the payment provider pays out to you depends on the contract you have with your payment provider.  

Payment providers usually take a transaction fee for their service. This transaction fee amount varies, and it is always best to ask the payment providers directly or check their websites on their transaction fees.

The payment provider only processes bookings coming from your own website. You do not need to have a payment provider for OTA's bookings or Marketplace bookings. In these cases, the seller will process the payment from the customer.

What do I need to do? 

The first step is to select the payment provider you will like to use from the list of payment providers available. 

If you already have a contract with a payment provider, that is great and you can set up your payment service immediately. 

If you do not have a contract in place, you'll have to start by signing up for their service before connecting them with Bokun for accepting payments. 

Can I just not take payments on my website? 

Yes you have the option of not accepting payments at the time of booking, that is fully optional. Also in the event that you are waiting for a contract with your payment providers, you can add booking engines that do not take payment for the time being, and add your payment option as soon as it is activated. Here's more information on how you can use Bokun without a payment provider.

List of available payment providers 

Currently Bókun supports these payment providers. Note that the country list might not be exhaustive. To confirm this, it is advisable to refer to the payment provider's website instead. If anything here doesn't fit with what the payment provider states, refer back to the payment provider for more updated information.

To find the list of available payment providers, select the "cogwheel" in the top right corner of the page, then select "Payment Provider" from the sidebar.

Click on "Supported Providers" at the top right side of the page to get a list of integrated payment providers. You would select "Connect a provider" if you already have a contract with a payment provider. 

When you select a payment provider from the list, a new tab opens and you'll be taken to the signup page for the payment provider you've selected. 

To add a payment provider whom you already have a contract with and is on the list, return back to the page and select "Connect a provider".
