Starting October 1st, 2020, Bókun will introduce a low subscription fee while significantly reducing service fees for direct online bookings.

What are my new subscription plan options for Bókun?

The FREE plan allows you to connect your Experiences to Viator, manage offline bookings and gain additional distribution through our Affiliate Hub. This is a great option for someone just getting started or only looking for a small number of distribution channels.

The PRO plan gives you access to an entire suite of tools to run and grow your business. You can have unlimited users within your account, and manage bookings and availability across a variety of channels, such as offline, direct online, OTA and reseller channels. As part of this plan, you will also get a booking website and/or booking widget to grow your direct online bookings.

How do I know which plan is right for my business?

The PRO plan is the right plan for the vast majority of our customers. We’ve deliberately packaged the right combination of powerful features at a low price to help anyone start and grow a tours and activities business. The PRO plan also provides access to the Bókun App store.

For a customer that only wants to connect to Viator and only needs a single user account, the FREE plan is a good option.

Will the price change again?

We believe that we’ve landed on the right pricing plan for today. In the future users will likely see these plans expand and grow through optional features they can purchase in our new App Store. There are no immediate plans for another price change, but we do believe we should also be evaluating whether our product and packaging meet the current needs of the industry.

I’m paying less than $49 per month for my Bókun website right now with a promo code. What does this new price change mean to me?

We’ve changed the way that our website product is sold. We are including a Bókun Booking Website in the PRO subscription. This website allows PRO customers to get their products bookable and online quickly with an easy-to-use site. Customers today are using the version of our website's product included in our Advanced Website Upgrade. This includes a fully customizable website along with the ability to sell gift cards and upsell products post checkout.

I just signed up for Bókun, and last week the price was a 2.9% fee for online bookings. Does this price change apply to me?

Yes it does. You’ve likely received an email communication about how this price change affects.

I used to pay 2.9% for direct online bookings with Bókun’s booking engine and I have no need for the Bókun website. Why should I pay the monthly subscription?

We understand that customers need to make what they believe is the best decision for their individual business, but we believe that the Bókun PRO subscription provides a lot of value. Even a customer primarily using our booking widget uses many other parts of our product. As we continue to drive new solutions and innovations, we’ve introduced a low subscription fee to cover the usage of those other parts. We’ve also almost cut the direct online fee in half which likely covers the cost of the subscription fee for the PRO plan.

Why do I have to pay for features that used to be free?

This group of features is quite sophisticated and has provided a lot of value for Bókun customers over the years. We have seen the positive impact these features have had on our customer’s success, and think these are an important part of supporting customers’ growth. The switch to a subscription fee is commensurate with the effort and support that goes into them and the value that is derived from them. We have also cut the direct online booking fee nearly in half, which covers the cost of the PRO plan subscription for many users.

How will the 2.9% online booking commission change?

In the PRO Plan, we are cutting this charge in half to a 1.5% service fee. We believe this helps to shift the costs to the entire platform while providing some financial relief on your direct online booking channel.

When will this take effect?

Unless otherwise noted in a specific email communication, the price change will go into effect on October 1st 2020.

I only want to connect with Viator. How much will I pay if I do not want to use your online booking engine?

For a customer that only wants to connect to Viator and only needs a single user account, the FREE plan is a good choice.

Are offline bookings free of charge?

There is no direct charge for offline bookings on either the FREE or the PRO plan.

How will I be billed?

The credit card attached to your Bókun account will be charged $49 at the time you switch to PRO. For vendors switching to PRO before the 1st of November, each billing date will be on the 1st of the month.

For vendors switching to PRO after the 1st of November, each billing date will be based on the subscription date. Transaction fees that occur during your current billing period will be billed at the start of your next billing period.
