Rate is what manages your pricing, per pricing category and departure time (e.g. Adults, children, group). Rates are set up per product and you can have different rates on different products. 

When booking the product you can select which rate is applicable to this particular booking. E.g. you can offer 2 rates, Group rate and individual rate. Then it is possible to select in the booking process which rate you would like to use. This is visible to your customers in your online booking engines and in all internal booking engines. 

With rates you can manage per departure time and pricing category: 

  • min/max passengers per rate, e.g. group rate min 10. 
  • pick up options
  • extras and pricing on extras
  • cancellation policy 

Add/ Edit rates on your products 

To set up or edit the rates on your product, you have to begin by opening your product by selecting "Products -> Tours & Activities -> select the name of the product from the list of products". 

If you have not set up our products yet, follow these instructions on how to set up new products.

In the product you have on the overview tab, a box for Rates. To create a new rate select "add" in the right hand corner. To edit a current rate, select the name of the rate.

Whether you are creating a new rate or editing a current one, you come to the same form:

Title:
The name of the Rate. 

Description: Short description of the rate. Not mandatory. 

Rate code: Short code that identifies the rate. Not mandatory. 

Min. passengers per booking: This is useful if you want to have a group rate, e.g. min 7 pax for -10% discount. The new price will be added in pricing after you save the rate. 

Max. passengers per booking: add the max quantity off pax per booking, if there is any, for this rate. 

Passenger price is per person: when this box is selected the pricing for this rate is per person. If this box is not selected the price is per booking. E.g. you select three passengers, but the price stays the same and the price is per booking, no matter how many passengers are selected. 

Pickup selection: Select if there is pickup offered for this rate. You have three options:

  • Optional - customer can select if he needs pickup or not. 
  • Preselected - everyone will get pickup. There is not opt out. 
  • Unavailable - there is no pickup. 

Pickup pricing: Appears only if "Preselected" or "Optional" was selected in pickup selection. You have two options: 

  • Included in price 
  • Priced separately. If selected you can select if pick up is priced per person or per booking. Price is added in pricing, after you save this page. 

Drop off selection: Select if there is drop off offered for this rate. These options appear only, if you selected to offer drop off on the "Product settings" page. If you did not select to offer drop off you will only get "unavailable" as an option. You have three options: 

  • Optional - customer can select if he needs dropoff or not. 
  • Preselected - everyone will be dropped off. There is not opt out. 
  • Unavailable - there is no dropoff. 

Drop off pricing: Appears only if "Preselected" or "Optional" was selected in drop off selection. You have two options: 

  • Included in price 
  • Priced separately. If selected you can select if drop off is priced per person or per booking. Price is added in pricing, after you save this page. 

Cancellation Policy: Here you can select the cancellation policy that is applicable to this particular rate. You can create cancellation policies by selecting “Products -> Cancellation Policies”

Pricing categories available for this rate: If this rate is not available for all pricing categories, you can select here the category this rate is available for. NOTE: selecting none is the same as selecting all.

Example of how rates appear in Booking Desk: 

When you select e.g. Group rate, you will get the group rates prices and criteria. If you select default rate you will get your default prices and criteria to book by. 

In which case would you use rates? 

You have a product, that can be booked as a seat in a jeep/bus and it can also be booked as a private group.

The third case could be a hop on hop off tour with three ticket options. E.g. 24 hour, 48 hour and 72 hours.

Another case would be a product where you have the same product with an add on available too. E.g. Reykjavík Walking Tour and Reykjavík Walking Tour with an entrance to a swimming pool.
